Melody Maker review of July 1987 with staff picks by Simon Reynolds.

Completely unrelated to this but worth mentioning all the same is that, according to Sweeping the Nation, Kenickie’s last gig was ten years ago tonight. For me Come Out 2nite is right up there with Teenage Kicks as a perfect pop anthem to youth. So in tribute to Kenickie here’s Lauren looking foxy in a little red dress with a flying V guitar before XFM and The Culture Show stole her away from us. Grrrrrr.

Another plug too for Freaky Trigger who are reviewing every UK No.1 single. Currently up to 1979
